East Coast Railway won the title in the 15th Nalco Cup State Hockey Championship for Men, edging out Khurda in the floodlit final by 5-4 goals, via penalty shoot out here at Barabati Stadium today. The hard-fought match went to the tie-breaker after play in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw.
NALCO Chairman-cum-Managing Director Tapan Kumar Chand graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophy. CRPF Inspector General (Odisha Sector) K K Sharma, Odisha Olympic Association president Samir Dey, Odisha Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera, Hockey Odisha president Retd Justice A S Naidu and secretary Pratap Satpathy were present on the occasion.
Organised by Hockey Odisha, the tournament was inaugurated Additional Police DG Satyajit Mohanty earlier on March 24. As many as 22 teams participated in the tournament.
